| Rain, rain, fucking go the fuck away! |

. . . . .
At 7 a.m. today, we finally got the water to stop coming in. Total hours fighting the leaks: about 28. We had to take breaks/naps in shifts, but certain tasks (like patching the leaky parts) required both of us. We were each able to get some sleep but still, far short of a full rest. I'll be paranoid about it until the rain finally stops; it's only sprinkling lightly and the flood warnings have been called off in our area but it ain't over till it's over.
All things considered, I know we were lucky compared to some. Towns closer to the shore got hit REALLY hard -- roads flooded and impassable, vehicles tipped over, trees uprooted and washed away, etc. So while L and I were down in the trenches vaccuuming up puddles, we tried to keep things in perspective. At least we weren't involved in all those shootings, for fuck's sake. :(
So although I'm wiped out, I am just grateful that it wasn't worse.
Foreground: Me, waiting for L to finish up patching a spot, so I can mix up another batch of 'dry lock' concrete. Note dead stare and protective face mask worn on head.
